The Food Pyramid


The Food Pyramid helps to eat healthy. It organises food into food groups.


3 main groups in the food pyramid are: Fats and Oils, Dairy, and Proteins. It is important to follow it to form a healthy lifestyle.


Fats & Oils


Fats and oils are at the top of the food pyramid.                       

Fats & Oils contains no vitamins and minerals. They have the 2 most unwanted items; Saturated fat, and calories. Try not to eat a lot of this item.


Dairy Products


Dairy should be a item that is eaten moderately.

Milk contains: Calcium, Protein, Phosphorus and vitamins A & D.
Calcium is a mineral which bones need to be healthy and strong.
Protein


Protein sources are: Meat, Beans and Dairy. All and all, meat and beans are the highest source of Protein. Protein Contains: Protein, iron, zinc, and Vitamin B. It is important for our body. You need iron because it is good for your blood and will also help to transport oxygen through your body.


It is important to follow the Food Pyramid as it ensures a healthy diet. I enjoyed learning about the food pyramid.
